I'm a llama!

I just sold my MR4TC Custom (with a Specials lightweight chassis) and moving on to a CGM. I'll be testing it in a few days time. I just hope that I've made the right move coz my previous car is wickedly FAST!!

I'll send in my review of the car once I've gotten in on a race track.

The CGM is the latest model from Yokomo. The drift version comes with some different tires + others.

M_Syafiq,

Well, I would say all leading brand of cars have their own advantage, so it down to these few things:-
- price
- parts support / after sales service
- individual preference

Hi Guys, I would like to do a brief review of Yokomo's latest machine, MR4TC CGM.

Firstly, construction of car was impressive. Almost everything including the battery brace is graphite! When I was almost done with the assembly, I tried the car/chassis's stiffness, it has a little twist when twisted hard. But 1 very noticeble thing was the weight, it felt heavy even without the electronics. The chassis is very compact, only allowing miniature electronics to be fully seated on the chassis. I had to make do with my receiver on the top of the servo.
The moment I had completed , I weighted it. It was at 1600gms!! I'm a hardcore racer & this is bad news! It was probably due to my big sanwa receiver & the KO ESC. I immediately planted some lightweight stuffs in. I used the Tobee craft lightweight center shaft & lightweight dogbones. If you are a racer, you will always wanna keep the parts that spins light. It shaved off 20grams. Then again, I had heatsinks on my motor & ESC.
Tested the car 1st time at Subang Speedway with the recommended settings from the manual. The handling was easy with the tail stepping off slightly but controllable when the steering was fully locked. It had too much roll thru the corners. Only tested 3 packs then had to pack up due to heavy rain.
Had my 2nd run at the Glenmarie track & also as a preparation for the weekend's Xenon round 3. Ran with Rayspeed yellow springs all round & the thickest roll bars all round. The car handled very well with a little too much response. Changed the front roll bar to the silver one, change the tire inserts & lenghten the rear upper arm. Bingo! Caught the perfect set-up, setting the fastest lap time in Glenmarie.
Won the Xenon round 3 comfortably that weekend with only a total 12 packs to adapt. Initially, I was worried about the weight. Had to also use a fan to cool the motor as it was running very hot even at 5.9 ratio while the field was around 5.5 ratio.Strapped the batts instead of using the brace. Weighted at 1580gms. The heaviest car the Amain but without doubt the best handling car too.
Conclusion, the car was superb on the corners. Much better than the Rayspeed chassis which I had before. On the straights, when I bring down the weight, I believe this will be one of the best Yokomo machine I had ever driven! This car comes at a bargain price for all the goodies included. Give it a try! Feel free to drop in questions on this car or shoot me at ong_cheeyong@yahoo.com Wink
