1) air
2) surface contact
kedua-dua nie perlu di maximise kan.

You can tap power from receiver to run the fan

Saya kongsi sikit pengalaman tak seberapa nie.

Normally, brushed esc susah sikit nak thermally shutdown. What we can do: dapat kan heatsink for computer RAM. yg nie dah siap thermal double sided tape. This tape specially for heat transfer. Bukan double sided yg biasa kita pakai tuu. Boleh dapat kan mana-mana kedai computer. Yg biasa kita pakai tu dia block heat(haba) lagi ada. Lekat kan tempat yg paling panas pada ESC (Biasanya mosfet kat ESC) Position your ESC to income fresh air. Guna your creativity. Make sure your heatsink fin paralel(Selari) dgn incoming air. Jgn melentang. Kalau ada ruang letak 5V fan on the top of heat sink. Air flow should be from the top to bottom (blowdown not blow out). Kalau nak extra lagi...buat air scope on the top of the fan. Tujuan air scope is to collect air and create higher air pressure on the top of the fan.....sikit lagi..pasti ada laluan untuk hot air keluar from heatsink.....5V fan ada yg 30mm dan 25mm, 30mm lagi banyak angin dia sedut.(much-more punya)

Apa yg saya cerita nie bersesuaian dgn pricinple of heat tranfer. Tackle the source and cool air facing heating source....

Untuk brushed motor pula... letakkan clip heatsink pada motor can....kalau nak pakai fan...try to position cool air flow direct to commutator and brush (contact area) (heat source pada motor). Guna air scope kalau tak cukup. Direct blow to the motor can sebenarnya tidak banyak membantu. Sebenarnya, during ammature spinning...dia keluarkan hot air inside of the motor through the air hole kat motor can.

Most of top world top driver guna fan kat motor to make sure solder tak cair lalu tercabut.

Normally the brushless systerm will operate in higher temp. than normal ESC.so,when the day get hot,or driving too agresive,it will over heat the unit and cause it to themal shut down.

My usual way is to email my problems to the manufacturer/supplier. In your case, info@nosram.com. Surely they encourage their 'precious users' to give feedback.

Make sure you praise their product first before relating your problems. Biasala, kena puji dulu. According to Nosram's website, their distributor for Malaysia is a Singapore company.

FYI, I've seen a few 'MacGyver' style solution in getting the temperature of ESC down. Some of them placed a small 'Pentium I/II CPU fans' on top of the ESC. Others placed cooling plates/heatsinks.

My 2-sens...
